Winners of the July 4th Writing Contest Announced - 12/09/2017

To commemorate the 2017 July 4th Parade theme, "Celebrating the American Dream," and this year to support the Ohio Kiwanis' 2016-17 Service Focus on Literacy "Today's Reader's, Tomorrow's Leaders," the Kiwanis Club of Granville hosted  its annual 4th of July writing contest. This year there separate essay and poetry contests. The theme was "Celebrating the American Dream." The following winners were announced and letters were sent to the winners by mail. The Aktion Club Collects $405 for the Eliminate Project - 11/14/2017

At the November 14 Aktion Club meeting, club members raised $100 in donations for the Kiwanis Eliminate Project, in partnership with UNICEF to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus worldwide. Kiwanis has committed to raising $110 Million of which the Newark and Granville Kiwanis clubs both completed Model Club pledges of over $50,000. 

Both clubs made personal donations at their October club meetings to contribute to the Aktion Club Trick-or-Treat for Eliminate/UNICEF collection, raising a combined $305.  

The Aktion Club collection so far this year for the Eliminate Project is $405. Each $1.80 provides a life-saving tetanus vaccine. Thus we are saving 225+ lives.

Dave Thomas Awarded Kiwanian of the Year - 11/13/2017

Dave Thomas, Past President and Chair of the Tent and Stage Committee, was awarded the 2016-17 "Kiwanian of the Year" and Distinguished Member Awards for his outstanding service to the club.

The awards were presented by Immediate Past President Don Lewis at the annual President's Party on Monday, November 13 at the Granville Inn given in his honor. In attendance were 73 members and guests for the special dinner event. Entertainment was provided by the GHS Jazz ensemble "The Blue Dukes."

Attendees received a commemorative maple leaf-shaped glass bottle of maple syrup of this year's Kiwanis maple syrup with the enscription "2016-17 President Don Lewis." In...

GHS Key Club donates an Amtryke to local girl for Kiwanis One Day - 10/18/2017

The GHS Key Club donated an Amtryke, a three-wheel therapeutic cycle for a Granville third-grader named Emily. The tricycle will help her work on her coordination and muscle strength, build confidence and let her ride with her family. She was excited to be able to test her bike, even riding fast, along the bike path with her therapist. She plans to ride the bike around her home. 


Aktion Club of Licking County helps the LCBDD celebrate 50 years - 10/17/2017

The Aktion Club of Licking County helped the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Superintendent Jason Umstot, celebrate 50 years with an open house on Tuesday October 17 from 4-6PM at the E.S. Weiant Center, 116 N. 22nd St. in Newark. There were presentations and proclamations from 6-7:30PM including a ground breaking for the upcoming renovations to the E.S. Weiant Center, planned for the next three years.

GES 2nd Grade K-Kids Learn from a Navy Veteran and Chalk the Sidewalks with Kindness - 10/17/2017

On Tuesday, October 17 from 3:30-4:45 PM, 34 of the 35 Granville Elementary 2nd Grade K-Kids spent their second meeting at G.E.S. in the PTO room led by this month's officers following the KKid's pledge in three service activities: 1) Dr. Doug Boldon, a Kiwanian and Navy Veteran, shared his experiences as a Veteran and showed photographs educating the KKids about his experience and the meaning of Veteran's Day to learn from history and remember the past (Veteran is derived from "vetus" meaning "old"); 2) we traced our hands and feet on red and white paper and cut out to make a large flag mural to display in town, at school and/or give to the local GPD and...


KKids, Builder's, Key Club and Interact join forces to raise funds for Hurricane Relief - 10/16/2017

Teamwork pays off big! KKids, Builder's, Key Club, Rotary's Interact Club and a few other clubs in Granville Schools joined forces to raise funds for a Hurricane Relief Fundraiser via the United Way on October 5, 2017. 

Granville Elementary School KKids Advisor Jess Wilson reported that the Granville Elementary School raised over $1,600. They raised funds through a t-shirt sale and a hat day where kids were asked to make a donation and they could wear a hat to school that day.
