Service Leadership Programs (SLP)
The Kiwanis Club of Granville sponsors the following Service Leadership Programs and Organizations. We also sponsor a local Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack. We appreciate the dedicated service of these student organizations and their leaders. K-Kids, Builder's Club, Key Club, Circle K, Aktion club, and Key Leader are throughout the world and sponsored by their local Kiwanis Clubs. These are part of the Kiwanis Family and are affiliated with Kiwanis International as a service organization. Many of our Kiwanis club members are alumni of these organizations.

Highlighted service projects: The club initiated a "Hunger Games" fundraiser in 2013. Students compete in a design contest for prizes, tshirts with the winning design are sold as a fundraiser and a Competitive Team Event with Obstacles on the Football field with spectators (an adapted Hunger Games) is held in the Spring. A can of donated food is each spectator's entry free! Funds and food are raised for local food pantries. Each month, Key Club members and their advisor serve a free community dinner to over 300 people with members of the First United Methodist Church of Newark. The club donates items for the Adopt-A-Family Christmas gift giving each year, adopting multiple families/12 people from the Licking County Dept. of Jobs and Family Services in 2014. The Club also collects coins for the annual UNICEF Trick-or-treat for UNICEF/Eliminate Project each October, raising over $100 in 2014. The Kiwanis Club members contributed also to increase their donation. The club also sponsors an annual Red Cross Blood Drive at the high school in the Fall.
The club meets before school 3-4 times a month at Watkins-Memorial High School. Annual dues are $10 per student.

3/23/15 GMS Coin Wars begin this week!
Join GMS for Operation Feed Coin Drive March 23–27, 2015. All the money stays here in Licking County and supports the local food bank. The GMS Math Teachers have agreed to help us with this competition. Each Math teacher will have a “Coin” collection jar. Pennies and paper money (bills) are positive points. All silver coins (nickels, dimes, quarters) are negative points. Help your grade win the Coin Competition!
Please send loose change or bills to school with your son/daughter this week only! Must be collected by Friday 3/27. You may put coins in a teacher’s jar when the classroom door is open and a teacher is in the room before school, between classes, and after school. Last year (2014) we collected over $1000.00 for Operation Feed.
Granville Elementary K-Kids (since 2016)
2016-17 KKids chartered at Granville elementary school. The KKids' faculty advisor was Granville Kiwanian and 2nd grade teacher Dr. Jessica Wilson. The club was comprised of 52 second-graders. many volunteer parents, Kiwanians, and a few middle school and high school volunteers. The group met twice a month from September 2016 through May 2017 on Tuesdays at school from 3:30-4:45pm and completed over 52 service projects. They took a field trip to Middleton Senior Living Center to interact with the residents, playing Bingo and reading books. The kids completed a year-long project inspired by Principal Travis Morris, a new Buddy Bench for the playground. The kids were excited to help at the Maple Leaf 5K/10K, at the Granville Kiwanis Pancake breakfast helping with coloring and passing out books, and participating in the July 4th parade in the KKids float. The kids finished the year with a celebration with their families, and delivered suprised flower arrangements to local nursing homes as "homework." Congratulations on a year of Distringuished Service from the International Kiwanis organization!
