A message from our President:

The Kiwanis Club of Granville just celebrated its 50th Anniversary - or 50 years of service to Granville and the children in our community. Our Club is proud to have 70 active volunteers consisting of men and women from our community who all share a common mission; we are dedicated to serving the children of the world, one community and one child at a time. Our members have diverse talents and generous hearts, daily serving others through our work, in other service groups, in our places of worship, and in our families. Through Kiwanis, we participate in community service projects and fellowship guided by the "Golden Rule." Dedicated volunteers, we build strong social networks and rely on experience and organization, which enable the club to complete many substantial and rewarding projects. Our signature event is the Annual Fourth of July Celebration in downtown Granville, complete with a mile-long Parade and Fireworks in Wildwood Park, with funding from the Granville Foundation.

Our second signature project and fundraiser is the annual Maple Syrup production and sale. We serve our homemade syrup at our Pancake Day. We collect the sap water in February and boil it down to syrup in the newly renovated Sugar Shack of Warner's Louden Crest Farm on Louden Street. We bottle and sell our syrup locally through our Kiwanis members and at Whit's store in Granville and the Granville Inn. We were recognized in 2013 by Kiwanis International for our unique fundraiser and spin on the traditional Kiwanis Pancake Day.

The Club hosts many other events for our youth throughout the year, including the Holiday Hoops Tournament, the Pancake Breakfast, the Punt/Kick/Throw contest, sponsorship of the Boy Scout Troop 65 and the GHS Key Club and Watkins Memorial Key Club, support to the Granville Recreation District, the Little League Baseball teams, the Granvillle Schools and various programs, the Granville Athletic Association and Music Boosters, ticket taking at the GHS Basketball games, the High School Mission trip, the Maple Leaf 5K, biannual Circus, the Granville's Got Talent Show and 4th of July Photography Contest, as well as sponsoring students to attend leadership conferences including HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Leadership conference) and Kiwanis branded Key Leader Program, and the annual C-Tec and Granville High School Scholarships.

Through our annual fundraisers, we contribute to many charitable organizations and causes including the Food Pantry of Licking County, the Salvation Army, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District, Heartbeats of Licking County, Young Children Priority One, The Woodlands, Newborns in Need, the Women's Shelter, the Y.E.S. Club, ACTION Ohio, the Licking County 4-H Youth Organizations, the Licking County 4-H Band, the Ohio State University Extension Office, the Licking County River Roundup, Adopt a Highway Roadside Trash pickup, the Janet Gregory Benefit Fund and house project, and American Mental Health Association.

The International Kiwanis Organization is working with UNICEF to eliminate neonatal/maternal tetanus. Three area Kiwanis clubs (Newark, Heath and Granville) are teaming together on Memorial Day, May 27th to host the first annual Licking County 5K at 9AM near OSU-Newark campus, starting at Rotary Pavilion Park (925 Sharon Valley Road). Proceeds will contribute to the Eliminate challenge, to immunize a mother and her unborn children from the lethal risks of tetanus, for only $1.80 per vaccine. The problem is serious, however tenable and it is within our reach to eliminate tetanus world-wide (within 3 years at the current rate of fundraising), and we are proud to contribute. Please join us!

If you would like to meet us or learn more about our club, join us at the Granville Inn, any Monday evening at 6:15 PM. Be our guest for dinner and an interesting program. You may be surprised to meet a neighbor or make a new friend!

It is a privilege to be a member of Granville's community; it is an honor to be part of Kiwanis and the Kiwanis Club of Granville. We have many activities, service projects and traditions, which enrich the Granville community and support our future - our youth!
